Today we held a Thanksgiving “Turkey Gobble” in our ministry apartment. Our final count was 61 kids and about 15 volunteers in a two bedroom apartment. Tonight was our second week of practice. You can tell these are little girls! We have six 5th and 6th graders and one 9th grader (don’t ask!) Here are a couple of photos from the first practice. Seasoned puppeteers- you can see we made “eyeballs” for practice. We’ve used them, as well as real puppets both weeks- and Julie [...]

Lydia loves nature: dogs, leaves, birds, bugs and exploring. We spied this beautiful monarch butterfly in the backyard. Lydia was a little leery of holding the butterfly, so we put it on her foot. I haven’t seen anything much more adorable than that little baby foot adorned by God’s colorful creation! Amanda had a Survivor party, [...]

God has been so good…so completely in the details of showing us how to launch Square Peg Ministries. Today, God reminded us of some important principles, courtesy of Andy Stanley’s book, Visioneering and the Old Testament’s book authored by Nehemiah, as interpreted by Yours Truly: Nehemiah had a huge vision: rebuilding the torn down walls [...]

We had put in a couple of days of cleaning, organizing and preparing…and it was well worth it! This school year we decided to to our [...]

The county in which we do our weekly ministry went back to school last week. We usually begin our Homework Help and Tutoring a couple of weeks into the school year so the kids are ready for our help. Today we had our annual Open House to begin signing up kids for the program. Here’s [...]

Here’s what I’m working on right now: Concepts 21 Kids Club (see Square Peg Ministries tab above)- this is the last week of Superbook Olympics. We’ve been studying the book of Mark. We’re only going to finish through Chapter 5. However, we did learn a lot of Bible stories and where to find them. Most [...]

I have missed the last three weeks of Kids Club! You know all those BGPs! And really, I think the week before that, we had a sandwich-making/selling fundraiser instead of our regular ministry- so it’s been a while. I really love working with our kids. They are a joy- and even though I got sweatier today [...]
