Back on June 15th, Darrell and I went grocery shopping, and suddenly, I just felt like eating some vegetables and fruit- and really not much else. Click here to see what I was saying that week. It was two days after Camp Rocks and I think my body just wanted some nutrition.

Anyway, since then (8 or 9 weeks,) I’ve lost about 18 pounds and a size or two, depending on the clothes. I say I am eating 90% fruits and vegetables. Here’s what I’ve been doing:

breakfast: a bowl of cereal (I choose Frosted Cheerios!) with lots of fruit (a banana, 1/2 cup+ of raspberries, 1/2 cup+ of blueberries) and a little bit of milk.

lunch: a Subway sandwich- 6″ honey oat bread, pepper jack cheese with these veggies: lettuce, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, cucumbers, a little bit of honey mustard, salt and pepper and oregano

dinner: a non-meat frozen dinner like Lean Cuisine, Smart Ones, etc. and one to one and a half cups (or more) of cooked vegetables. I like frozen, seasoned vegetable medleys. I might add some fruit like a plum or some fresh pineapple.

snack: a 1/4 of raw nuts or some kind of nut/dried fruit mixture and/or another bowl of cereal and fruit or maybe just some fruit as mentioned above in dinner.

So, that’s it. One of the best things is my sugar-craving, high calorie snacking habits are gone…really.

When we go out to eat, I’ll do the best I can to make a vegetable plate out of the sides that are offered. It doesn’t always work out 100%, but I can usually at least have a salad and some broth-based soup. However, what I’m really looking for in sides is something warm and hearty. The best selection for my taste is at Ruby Tuesday’s: mashed cauliflower, sauteed mini-portabello mushrooms, green beans and broccoli. Yum-um! The cauliflower and mushrooms are especially good.

Two to three more pounds to go and then I’ll go back to Weight Watchers. When I weigh in, it will look like I lost 20 pounds or so in one week! But I just like to get my weight on record in my WW book every once in a great while to keep myself on track. For some reason, I am absolutely not working out right now. Ummm..the 30 minutes per day walking regime didn’t go too far. I’m telling myself when I get back down to my WW goal (that’s 2-3 more pounds) I’ll get going again. And I will!
