We had so much fun at Camp Primo this summer, that when we got two free tickets to Dollywood, Darrell and I decided we needed to have a fall retreat with Nora and Lydia. So, all four of us packed into the car and took a two day trip to Sevierville, TN. We stayed at a really nice hotel, Clarion Inn Willow River, which we chose because it had an indoor swimming pool. There’s a lot of fun to fit into two days and here’s a little peek!
Starting Out…
Cousins having fun!
Their “cake” is actually corn muffins Nora snagged off the Food Bar at Shoney’s!
Eating Candy…
Grandmama had to get in the back seat and mediate!
When we got to the hotel, Lydia was ready to have some fun, but Nora just wanted to snooze. I don’t know why, it was only 10:30 P.M.! Listen to Lydia’s cute voice as she’s saying, “Gandma..Gandma…”
Nora did actually wake up, ready to go, so as we returned the luggage cart, we took a tour of our hotel. We really liked the fireplace and all the Christmas decorations in the lobby.
We loved breakfast at the hotel in the morning…
We had time after breakfast to have some fun, swim in the pool and go exploring!
Finally it was time to go to Dollywood. We had LOTS of fun there. I was surprised by how much we really enjoyed it. I would have liked to have stayed longer actually. It reminded us of a combination of the Magic Kingdom (not all of Disney World) and the Renaissance Festival. And it was quality as far as service, lines, organization, cleanliness and staff friendliness. I don’t know what I was thinking it would be- but it exceeded my expectations. Plus, there was a whole section of fun stuff for little kids:
We’re all a little tired after a fun day!
When we got back to the hotel we had a fun “picnic.”
The next morning we went swimming again and then it was time to head home. But first we had to look out the balcony to the beautiful river. Nora said the balcony was her new house!
We stopped for lunch at the Cracker Barrel. There were so many interesting things to do while we waited for our food!
Raise your hand if you had fun on the trip!
Oh my goodness Aunt Cindy- you guys looked like you had so much fun! And I love the first 2 pictures-how you and Uncle Darrell had bigger smiles than the girls!
I hope you guys have a great Thanksgiving! I know Aunt Paula, Staci, and Shelby are so excited to come see you guys!
Looks like fun! But, is that Taco Bell I see Lydia eating?!?!
SO FUN! Lydia looked at all the pix again today and told me all about it!
Are you sure they aren’t raising their hands as a sign of “lips closed & eyes on me”?!?! Looks like fun … what cool grandparents!!
I love the video of Nora sleeping and Lydia ready to play. What a cool trip!
What fun!!!!! Do you need any staff for the Spring Retreat? I’m in!
